A Great Day at the Cranleigh Ploughing Match
On 13th September 2026 at Whipley Manor Farm
There was a good atmosphere at this year’s Cranleigh Ploughing Match, with ploughmen bringing their skills, tractors and machinery to the field for a great day celebrating traditional farming.
Although we had a little light rain during the day, it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits. The field was buzzing with the sight and sound of tractors at work, where visitors enjoyed watching the ploughing and seeing some of the machinery up close.
Our refreshment gazebo was a welcome stop throughout the day, with bacon rolls, tea, coffee and cold drinks available for ploughmen and visitors. It was lovely to see people stopping for something to eat, a drink and a chat while enjoying the atmosphere of the day.
The Ploughing Match is a wonderful reminder of the farming traditions that are such an important part of the Cranleigh & South Eastern Agricultural Society. We were delighted to welcome everyone and to continue this long-standing rural tradition.
Here are some photographs from the day, taken by us. Please head to the Ploughing Match page to see some more. We hope they give you a flavour of what was a thoroughly enjoyable Cranleigh Ploughing Match.

CRANLEIGH FARM AND FOOD FESTIVAL
To celebrate farming, food, and rural life, the Cranleigh Show evolved into The Cranleigh Farm and Food Festival.
Alongside the Festival, the Society continues to support British farming through ploughing matches, farm competitions, as well as awarding bursaries for farming and agricultural students. Just as in 1946, the mission remains the same: to keep British farming, food, and countryside life at the heart of our community.
